Christmas Dessert Table/Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

Not sure how I missed posting this blog back in December but here it is! This is the dessert table from the 2010 Selma Lion's Club Christmas Party. We had individual Strawberry Shortcakes, Butterfinger Trifles, Banana Pudding, Pound Cake, Coconut Cake, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Ambrosia, Oreo Pie and Cheese Wafers. Here is the recipe for the Strawberry Shortcake Trifle: 1 Sara Lee Pound Cake 1 8 oz. Cream cheese 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. powdered sugar 1 c. sour cream 8 oz. Frozen Whipped Topping (thawed) 2 large containers of fresh strawberries Wash strawberries, cut off the tops and slice. Sprinkle granulated sugar over strawberries. (you can also use frozen sliced strawberries) Cut pound cake into 1-inch squares. Set aside. Blend together cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar, and sour cream until smooth. HALLOWEEN 2010 ~ Firehouse Chili and Butterfinger Trifle

This year for Halloween we went to the Prairie Creek Campground with some friends. If you've never been, I would highly recommend it. It's a great family atmosphere and they really go all out to make sure the kids have a good time. Of course for me, this was just another excuse to cook! Chris Graham made his Firehouse Chili, Chris Vardaman grilled up hot dogs for the kids and I of course made the fat nasty. Afterwards we let the kids roast marshmallows around the camp fire. It's a pie, it's a cake, it's a Pummple Cake. The Pummple cake originated as the Flying Monkey Bakery in Philadelphia. The Pummple Cake weighs in at about 15 pounds, is over a foot tall, and every sinful $8 slice comes packed with a whopping 1,800 calories. The fall version features an apple pie baked into a vanilla cake batter and a pumpkin pie inside of a chocolate cake. The summer version has blueberry pies in the vanilla cake and cherry pie in the chocolate cake. The possibilities with this at home are endless and I can't wait to try it.
